Peter Booth of Hamden, NY, co-presented a research project at the annual meeting of the Geological Society of America in Baltimore, Md., last fall. Booth co-authored "Views of the River: Flood Records, Lidar, UAV, and Canoe Based Monitoring of Meander Migration in Upstate New York" with another SUNY Oneonta student and Associate Professor of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences Les Hasbargen.

A total of 53 SUNY Oneonta students are studying abroad this spring through semester-long and academic-year programs in 12 countries. SUNY Oneonta offers study abroad and exchange programs in Finland, Ghana, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, South Korea, Sweden and Taiwan through the Office of International Education, plus a variety of short-term, faculty-led programs throughout the year.

SUNY Oneonta welcomed 205 new freshman and transfer students this semester. Admission to Oneonta is competitive, and we're proud to welcome a smart, talented, engaged group of students hailing from across New York, and from as far away as San Francisco, Japan and South Korea.

SUNY Oneonta inducted 47 students into its chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society, in December 2015. Invitation to apply for membership is based on recommendation, junior or senior standing, and an overall grade-point average of 3.0 or better.

More than 300 students met requirements for graduation from SUNY Oneonta following the fall 2015 semester. Graduates were honored at a December recognition ceremony hosted by college President Nancy Kleniewski. They also are eligible to participate in the college's commencement on May 14.

A total of 126 SUNY Oneonta students earned Provost's List honors for the Fall 2015 semester. To qualify for the Provost's List, a student must earn a perfect 4.0 grade-point average while carrying a course load of 12 hours or more.

A total of 1,513 SUNY Oneonta students earned Dean's List honors for the fall 2015 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher while carrying a course load of 12 hours or more.

27 student athletes played for the SUNY Oneonta men's soccer team this fall.

Senior men's soccer player Dylan Williams was selected as an NSCAA Scholar All-American for a second consecutive year.

26 student athletes competed for the SUNY Oneonta women's soccer team during the recently completed fall season.

27 student athletes competed for the SUNY Oneonta women's cross country team during the recently completed fall season.

25 student athletes competed for the SUNY Oneonta field hockey team during the recently completed fall season.

17 student athletes competed for the SUNY Oneonta men's cross country team during the recently completed fall season.

16 student athletes competed for the SUNY Oneonta volleyball team during the recently completed fall season.

SUNY Oneonta Inter-Fraternity Council President Russell Lowe organized a highly successful Gift of Life Bone Marrow Registration Drive on the college's campus in October.

Thirty-four members of SUNY Oneonta's Zeta Beta Tau fraternity chapter organized a highly successful Gift of Life Bone Marrow Registration Drive on the SUNY Oneonta campus in October.

SUNY Oneonta swim captain Greg Fothergill participated in Polar Plunge for Special Olympics.

A team of SUNY Oneonta students won an honorable mention award at the 2015 College Fed Challenge competition on Nov. 16. This was the third consecutive year that SUNY Oneonta has made it to the semifinals of the intercollegiate monetary policy competition, held at the New York Federal Reserve Bank.

Four SUNY Oneonta students and recent graduates have won prizes for photos they took while studying abroad. The college's Office of International Education holds a Study Abroad Photo Contest every year with two categories: Culture and Society, for photos where the focal point of attention is on the customs, objects and historical sites; and Nature, where the focal point of the photo is a landscape or vista.

Seven SUNY Oneonta students and recent graduates collaborated with Art Department Lecturer Janet Wentworth to create "Community Heroes in Portraiture," a multimedia exhibition commemorating the lives of more than 20 "unsung heroes" in Otsego and Delaware counties. The exhibition features 10 original oil portraits by Wentworth, accompanied by the students' photographs, videos, historical and biographical writings, and drawings.

Ten SUNY Oneonta students have been awarded scholarships to study abroad during the fall 2015 semester.

SUNY Oneonta recognized four students for academic excellence at the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences' annual Majors' Night. Now in its 39th year, Majors' Night offers the department's undergraduates the opportunity to network with alumni who return to campus for the event, where they share their experiences and offer advice to current students.

SUNY Oneonta physics majors Bridget Chartrand and John Beach won third prize in the student poster competition at the American Physical Society New York State Section 113th Topical Symposium held Sept. 11-12 at Vassar College.

This fall, SUNY Oneonta will welcome approximately 1,100 freshmen and 600 new transfer students hailing from across New York, as well as from 16 states and countries.Our newest Red Dragons will officially join the Oneonta family when they walk through the historic pillars of Old Main during the traditional Pass through the Pillars ceremony on Aug. 30, the night before classes begin.

Five basketball players were named to the NABC Honors Court for the performance in the classroom during the 2014-15 academic year.

Six biology students presented research at the 90th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Parasitologists in Omaha, Nebraska, in June.
