Nine SUNY Oneonta alumni have co-authored an article describing five new species of tapeworms in Folia Parasitologica, a peer-reviewed, open-access, international journal covering all branches of animal parasitology. The co-authors, all of whom were undergraduate biology majors at SUNY Oneonta, collaborated with Associate Professor of Biology Florian Reyda on the research over a period of six years.

Senior Mikey McElroy was selected as the Player of the Week in the SUNYAC.

A total of 200 SUNY Oneonta students earned Provost's List honors for the fall 2016 semester. To qualify for the Provost's List, a student must earn a perfect 4.0 grade-point average while carrying a course load of 12 hours or more.

A total of 1,515 SUNY Oneonta students earned Dean's List honors for the fall 2016 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher while carrying a course load of 12 hours or more.

Senior Rachael Shine was chosen as the SUNYAC Scholar Athlete of the Year in women's cross country.

Senior David Busby was chosen as the SUNYAC Scholar Athlete of the Year in men's cross country.

Freshman Leanne Corso was selected as the Athlete of the Week at SUNY Oneonta.

Senior Cara Adams was selected as the Player of the Week in the SUNYAC.

Freshman Kevin Knox was selected as the Rookie of the Week by the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference.

Junior Austin Sisco was selected as the Wrestler of the Week by the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference.

Senior Lawrence Coleman was selected as the Athlete of the Week at SUNY Oneonta.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car has selected SUNY Oneonta student Allison Ravit to receive its Enterprise Scholarship Award. Ravit, who is majoring in business economics at SUNY Oneonta, was a management trainee intern this past summer at Enterprise.

Twenty-eight members of SUNY Oneonta's Zeta Beta Tau fraternity chapter helped organize SUNY Oneonta's third annual Gift of Life Bone Marrow Donor Registration Drive on Oct. 26 and 27.

The SUNY Oneonta Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences awarded six students scholarships at its annual Majors' Night in October. Now in its 40th year, Majors' Night offers the department's undergraduates the opportunity to network with alumni who return to campus for the event, where they share their experiences and offer advice to current students.

A total of 39 SUNY Oneonta students are studying abroad this spring through semester-long and academic-year programs in 13 countries. SUNY Oneonta offers study abroad and exchange programs in Finland, Ghana, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, South Korea, Sweden, Taiwan and the United Kingdom through the Office of International Education, plus international internship opportunities and short-term, faculty-led field courses abroad.

A book featuring autobiographical vignettes by 29 Latino SUNY Oneonta students and recent alumni won two awards at the Latino Literacy Now's International Latino Book Awards. Titled "Mi vida en los Estados Unidos, jovenes hispanohablantes cuentan sus experiencias" ("My Life in the United States, Young Hispanic Heritage Language Speakers Write About Their Experiences"), the book is a collection of common experiences growing up with two languages and two cultures, and similar life struggles.
