SUNY Oneonta inducted 13 students into its chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society, on May 4. Invitation to apply for membership is based on recommendation, junior or senior standing, and an overall grade-point average of 3.0 or better. Selection is based on a demonstrated record of scholarship and leadership activity on campus.

13 student athletes competed for the SUNY Oneonta softball team during the 2014 season.

23 student athletes competed for the SUNY Oneonta baseball team during the 2014 season.

35 student athletes competed for the SUNY Oneonta men's lacrosse team during the 2014 season.

20 student athletes competed for the SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team during the 2014 spring season.

11 student athletes competed for the SUNY Oneonta men's tennis team during the 2013-14 year.

13 student athletes competed for the SUNY Oneonta women's tennis team during the 2013-14 year.

David D'Antonio has been named a SUNY Oneonta Honorary Alumnus by the college's Alumni Association. This distinction is bestowed upon individuals who are not graduates of SUNY Oneonta and who have demonstrated continued and exceptional commitment and service to the college and the programs of the SUNY Oneonta Alumni Association. D'Antonio, the sole recipient of the Honorary Alumnus Award, is one of five individuals who will be honored during a Reunion Weekend ceremony on June 7.

SUNY Oneonta recently recognized 72 students who achieved certification in the college's Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) program during the spring 2014 semester. LEAD@Oneonta is a comprehensive leadership program based on current research and guidelines from the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education. There are three levels of leadership certification: Silver, Gold and Platinum.

Four SUNY Oneonta graduate students were selected to receive Best and Brightest Awards during the 2013-2014 academic year. The awards recognize students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and engagement in activities related to their field of study, such as internships, research, leadership and volunteer service. Students are nominated for the awards each semester by faculty and staff.

A total of 59 SUNY Oneonta undergraduate students were selected to receive Best and Brightest Awards during the 2013-2014 academic year. The awards recognize students who demonstrate outstanding academic engagement, co-curricular engagement, and service to the college and/or local community. Three student athletes were selected to the SUNYAC All-Conference Team in the sport of lacrosse.

Two student athletes were selected to the SUNYAC All-Conference Team in the sport of track & field.

Three student athletes were selected to the IWLCA All-Region and All-SUNYAC Teams in the sport of lacrosse.

Twelve SUNY Oneonta students were selected to receive the 2014 College at Oneonta Foundation Awards and Honorable Mentions for Excellence in Student Research & Creative Activity.

Nearly 200 SUNY Oneonta students presented original research and creative projects at the college's annual Student Research and Creative Activity Day on March 26.

Three SUNY Oneonta students presented papers at the college's 19th annual Undergraduate Political Science Conference from April 11-12. A total of 22 students from colleges across the country were selected to present papers at the conference, which featured keynote lectures titled "Mitosis & Abortion" by Dr. Douglas Lackey of Baruch College and "Remembrances: Cultural Memory as a Form of Resistance" by Dr. Taine Duncan of the University of Central Arkansas.

Seventeen SUNY Oneonta students received awards for artwork displayed in the college's Annual Student Juried Art Exhibition. The exhibition, featuring more than 100 works by student artists, opened April 14 and runs through May 17 in the college's Martin-Mullen Art Gallery.

Three student athletes were selected to the SUNYAC All-Conference Team in the sport of baseball.

Seven SUNY Oneonta students presented papers at the Phi Alpha Theta NY Upper Regional Conference for History Undergraduates, hosted by SUNY Oneonta on April 12. A total of 33 students from colleges throughout the Northeast were selected to present papers at the conference, which featured a keynote address titled "History Major to History Ph.D.: Pursuing Historical Studies from Undergraduate to Graduate School" by SUNY Oneonta alumna Dr. Meagan Butler of the University of Glasgow.

Thirteen SUNY Oneonta students presented papers at the college's fifth annual New Critics: Undergraduate Literature and Composition Conference on April 19. A total of 21 students from colleges throughout New York state and as far away as Los Angeles were selected to present papers at the conference, which featured a keynote address by PEN/Jerard Award-winning creative nonfiction writer Colette Brooks.

Five student athletes were selected to the SUNYAC All-Conference Team in the sport of softball.

Four SUNY Oneonta students presented papers at the college's sixth annual Undergraduate Political Science Conference on March 14. A total of 13 students from colleges throughout New York state were selected to present papers at the conference, which featured a keynote address titled "Human Rights and Chinese Investment in Africa" by Dr. Muna Ndulo, Professor of Law and Director of the Institute for African Development at Cornell University Law School.

SUNY Oneonta inducted 24 students into its chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, international honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, during a ceremony on April 25. Students ranking in the top 10 percent of baccalaureate programs and the top 20 percent of graduate programs at schools accredited by AACSB International, The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, are eligible for this invitation.

Fifteen SUNY Oneonta students spent part of their spring break at the National Model United Nations Conference in New York City from March 30-April 3. This year's delegation, representing C?te d'Ivoire, was one of 28 groups from around the world selected to receive the Distinguished Delegation award at the end of the five-day conference. This is a high honor, placing the Oneonta delegation in the top 10 percent of participants.

A total of 15 new members were inducted into the SUNY Oneonta Alpha-Kappa-Iota chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honor society, on April 7. Phi Alpha Theta is an American honor society for undergraduate students, graduate students, and professors of history, and is the second oldest such society in the United States. The society has over 350,000 members, with about 9,500 new members joining each year through 860 local chapters.

SUNY Oneonta recognized 16 student athletes by inducting them into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society, during a luncheon held on April 10. To qualify for induction a student athlete must have achieved at least junior standing with a cumulative 3.4 grade point average while earning a varsity letter in an NCAA intercollegiate sport. Each student athlete must also be of good moral character and have the endorsement of his/her coach and the Chapter President.

Mifuyu Otsuka of Tokyo, Japan, is among a select group of State University of New York students chosen to receive the 2014 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence. SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher presented the awards to the students at a reception in their honor on April 2 at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany.

Ashley Ly of Walton, NY, is among a select group of State University of New York students chosen to receive the 2014 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence. SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher presented the awards to the students at a reception in their honor on April 2 at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany.
