Shannon Donohue Presents Research at Conference

2016 May 9

Shannon Donohue of Salisbury Mills, NY, presented her limnological research experience on Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, at the Northeast Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network (NE GLEON) conference from April 15-17. The international research experience was made possible through a faculty-led summer field course led by Tracy Allen, associate professor of geography and environmental sustainability.

Donohue, a member of the Class of 2016, is majoring in Environmental Science and Psychology with a Water Resources minor at SUNY Oneonta.

Assistant Professor of Biology Kiyoko Yokota helped organize the conference, which was held at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in Milbrook, NY. Thirty-two student and professional researchers from 14 institutions participated in intensive team science sessions and are planning a coordinated multi-site experiment across the northeastern United States and eastern Canada in mid-June.

SUNY Oneonta's Biological Field Station on Otsego Lake is a member of the SUNY Lakes Ecological Observatory Network, which is part of the NE GLEON and the worldwide GLEON.
