Serena Sackett of Bloomville, NY, was one of 29 outstanding SUNY Oneonta seniors selected to receive a 2014 Academic Achievement Award. Each academic department or program selected one student to receive the award, and one senior was chosen to represent Oneonta's intercollegiate athletics program.

Sackett, who majored in Psychology at SUNY Oneonta, received the Department of Psychology award and selected Charlene Christie to accompany her as a faculty guest at a recognition reception this spring.

She has also served as a TA for a 300-level course in Clinical Psychology as well as the Advanced Topics in Social Psychology senior seminar. A member of Psi Chi, the national honor society for psychology majors, Sackett served as the secretary for this group and was a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies . She has served the campus and Oneonta community as a tutor for the Educational Opportunity Program and volunteer during the Into the Streets day of service.
