SUNY Oneonta Senior Michelle Morales Exhibits Photography in Solo Show

2016 Dec 2

A photography exhibit showcasing the work of SUNY Oneonta senior Michelle Morales was displayed from November 7-22 at the Project Space Gallery in the college's Fine Arts Center.

Morales, from North Rose, NY, traveled to Boliva back in May as part of a faculty-led course in collaboration with Save the Children International. There, she and her classmates immersed themselves in Bolivian culture and participated in service-learning projects in schools and in the Save the Children Offices.

Titled "Bello, Bonito, Boliva," Morales' exhibit featured photos highlighting her experience and the impact it had on her. "My idea was to show the connection between the land, the people and the poverty of the country and how it affects their lives. There is so much beauty, even with all of the issues that they face. I wanted to bring this to Oneonta because we don't see these things everyday, and especially now, we have to open our eyes a little bit more."

The Project Space Gallery is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday when the college is in session and during special events. For more information about the gallery or upcoming exhibitions, contact Gallery Director Tim Sheesley at (607) 436-2445, (607) 436-3456 or visit www.oneonta.edu/academics/art/gallery.html.
