Peter Arruda Selected to Present Paper at Phi Alpha Theta NY Upper Regional Conference for History Undergraduates

Peter Arruda of Yorktown, NY, was selected to present a paper at the Phi Alpha Theta NY Upper Regional Conference for History Undergraduates, hosted by SUNY Oneonta on April 12.

Arruda , who is majoring in adolescence education: social studies at SUNY Oneonta, presented a paper titled "The Duelist’s Dilemma: Civil Courtesy or Crime of Carnage ."

A total of 33 students from colleges throughout the Northeast were selected to present papers at the conference, which featured a keynote address titled "History Major to History Ph.D.: Pursuing Historical Studies from Undergraduate to Graduate School" by SUNY Oneonta alumna Dr. Meagan Butler of the University of Glasgow.

Students presented in nine panels on topics such as "FDR, the New Deal & its Challengers," "Destruction and Reconstruction in Asia" and "Church and State." Faculty members from SUNY Oneonta, Hartwick College, Marist College and SUNY Plattsburgh served as commentators for each panel.
