Matthew Albert Studying Abroad this Semester

2016 Jan 27

Matthew Albert of South Salem, NY, is one of 53 SUNY Oneonta students studying abroad this semester. Albert, a junior majoring in Business Economics, is studying at the AIP Language Institute, Valencia in Spain.

SUNY Oneonta offers study abroad and exchange programs in Finland, Ghana, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, South Korea, Sweden and Taiwan through the Office of International Education, plus a variety of short-term, faculty-led programs throughout the year. Oneonta students also have access to more than 600 study abroad and exchange programs through the SUNY network.

To increase access to study abroad opportunities, SUNY Oneonta has established five scholarships to support students who might not otherwise have the financial means to study abroad. Made possible through gifts from alumni, faculty, staff and community members, the College at Oneonta Foundation 30th Anniversary Scholarship, the Bill and Khuki Woolever Scholarship, the Dr. Warren and Mrs. Rita Wellman Scholarship, the Gary and Pamela Tutty Study Abroad Scholarship and the Global Connectedness Fund Scholarship are made available each year to qualifying students.

Scholarships and Global Connectedness were two of four campaign priorities for the SUNY Oneonta Foundation's Possibilities Full of Promise campaign, which raised $13.6 million for student scholarships and travel, and faculty development. It also pushed the SUNY Oneonta endowment past $50 million, the largest endowment among all SUNY comprehensive colleges.
