Local Athletes selected to All-Conference Team

2017 Oct 24

State University of New York Athletic Conference Commissioner Tom DiCamillo has announced that SUNY Oneonta junior Alyssa Brault (Rochester) and freshman Julieta Eulau (Oceanside) have been selected to the All-Conference Team in women's tennis. The duo earned one of the three, First Team, positions in doubles. Brault also earned honors as one of the six singles slots on the First Team.

"We are so proud of Julieta and Alyssa," said Head Coach Lonnie Mitchel. "They both worked so incredibly hard and demonstrated incredible commitment to the success of this season."

Brault and Eulau had a strong fall season in helping the Red Dragons record an 11-2 mark that included 11 straight wins to open the season. During its run, the Red Dragons ended SUNY Geneseo's 40-match win streak in the SUNYAC.

As a tandem playing at No. 1 doubles, Brault and Eulau put together an 11-2 record that included a 3-0 showing in SUNYAC East play. The two were twice selected as the conference's Doubles Team of the Week during the fall.

"Julieta was a rookie and came in with a great attitude and her hard work and efforts as our top freshman player was an example for our team," stated Mitchel. "In the case of Alyssa, she came in as a transfer from a Division II program and has shown a great work ethic that has resonated with our team."

Brault's individual performance during the fall allowed her to earn honors in singles as well. Playing at the top of the singles lineup, she was 8-1 overall, which included wins in seven of her last eight dual matches.

The Red Dragons will return to action on Wednesday, Mar. 7 when they will face Oglethorpe University while the team is on its annual spring trip to Florida.
