Local Athletes selected to All-Conference Team

The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced its All-Conference team in the sport of field hockey today. Earning honors were five players from SUNY Oneonta including freshman Cali Cortese who was selected as the Conference's Rookie of the Year.

Joining Cortese as All-Conference selections were senior Nicole Johnston and juniors Allyson Bilow, Allyson Wells and Carissa Warren. Bilow and Wells were both selected to the First Team while Cortese, Johnston and Warren were all Second Team selections.

Cortese becomes only the third player in program history and the first since 2011 to earn the top Rookie honor in the conference. Cortese started all 19 games for the Red Dragons this season and collected five goals including one game-winner.

Bilow is being honored for a first time after starting 18 games this fall. As a defender, she registered 13 points on five goals and three assists. Bilow also scored one game-winning goal and had two defensive saves.

For a third consecutive year, Wells led the team in scoring accumulating 28 points on 11 goals and six assists. She scored three game-winning goals and is being honored as an All-Conference player for a second time.

Warren is honored as an All-Conference performer for a third time after back-to-back First Team selections. Warren started 18 games this fall and collected four goals while adding three assists for 11 points. She was tied for the team lead with her three game-winners.

Johnston is earning Second Team honors in back-to-back years. Johnston had her greatest offensive season this fall registering 11 goals and two assists for 24 points. Johnston had entered her final season with two career goals and an assist.

The Red Dragons finished the season 13-6 overall while finishing second in the SUNYAC conference with a 5-1 record.
