Lea Davis Receives Academic Achievement Award

Lea Davis of Oxford, NY, was one of 54 outstanding SUNY Oneonta students selected to receive a 2017 Academic Achievement Award this spring. Each academic department or program selected one to three outstanding seniors to receive the award.

Davis received the Theatre Department award.

To be considered for the award, a student must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 in his or her major and must demonstrate exceptional academic improvement over four semesters, as well as excellence in research; leadership and involvement in department, campus and community activities; and/or participation in academic and/or professional situation outside the college.

Davis contributed to six theatre department productions in the roles of stage manager, assistant stage manager, lighting designer, scenic designer and actor. She also worked during the summer at the Franklin Stage Company and has volunteered for local theatre companies. A poet, Davis has had her work published on campus in Art and Scope literary magazine and in Binghamton’s Triple Cities Carousel. She has also been active with the college’s Identity Play Series, serving as producer, director and as the organization’s secretary; as well as the Mask and Hammer theatre club, Alpha Psi Omega and Gender and Sexuality Resource Center.
