Kimberly Wallach Inducted into Health Preprofessional Honor Society

Kimberly Wallach of Merrick, NY, has earned membership in SUNY Oneonta's chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the National Health Preprofessional Honor Society.

Alpha Epsilon Delta is dedicated to the encouragement and recognition of excellence in preprofessional health scholarship. The honor society welcomes all students engaged in the pursuit of professional development, provides a forum for students with common interests, and extends a program of service to benefit the college community.

Membership is open to students enrolled in a health preprofessional program preparing them for careers in medicine, dentistry, optometry, podiatry, veterinary medicine and other health care professions requiring post baccalaureate study leading to an advanced degree. Potential members must have completed at least three semesters or five quarters of health preprofessional studies work with an overall cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. They must also maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.20 in the sciences - biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics.

SUNY Oneonta offers 10 programs to prepare students for careers in the health professions. Pre-health students must declare a primary major and work closely with both their primary major adviser and a pre-health professions adviser to plan their coursework.

The college's biochemistry program offers all the courses required for acceptance to most American medical schools. Besides premedicine and predentistry, students can pursue prenursing, preveterinary, prephysical therapy, preoccupational therapy, prephysician assistant, prepharmacy, preoptometry and prechiropractic programs. Several cooperative programs are also available.
