Emily Leger Receives Merit Scholarship to Attend SUNY Oneonta

2017 Aug 16

Emily Leger of Hicksville, NY, has been selected to receive the Mildred J. Haight Memorial Fund to attend SUNY Oneonta. The college's award of $1,250 annually will help Leger to pursue a bachelor's degree beginning in the fall 2017 semester. Leger transferred to SUNY Oneonta from Nassau Community College.

Leger, a graduate of Hicksville Senior High School, plans to major in History.

Since 2000, the college and its related College at Oneonta Foundation have more than tripled the number of scholarships available to SUNY Oneonta students, and more than $4 million is awarded each year. Increasing the impact the scholarships have in the lives of students was a priority of Possibilities Full of Promise, the 125th Anniversary Campaign for SUNY Oneonta, which concluded June 30, 2015, raising approximately $1 million more than its goal and helping to push the college's endowment over $50 million.
