Emily Dramstad of Essex Junction Wins Scholarship to SUNY Oneonta

2014 May 30

Emily Dramstad of Essex Junction is the recipient of the Presidential Diversity Scholarship at SUNY Oneonta. The college's award of $6,170 annually will help Dramstad, who attends Essex High School, to pursue a bachelor's degree in computer art beginning in the fall 2014 semester.

"SUNY Oneonta scholarships acknowledge the hard work and achievements of incoming students," said Provost Maria Thompson. "The breadth of our scholarship program demonstrates our commitment to the continued growth of award recipients."

Since 2000, the college and its related College at Oneonta Foundation have more than tripled the number of scholarships available to SUNY Oneonta students. The value of these awards has grown sixfold over that time. Increasing the impact the scholarships have in the lives of students is a priority of Possibilities Full of Promise, the 125th Anniversary Campaign for SUNY Oneonta.

A liberal arts institution with a strong focus on undergraduate research, SUNY Oneonta consistently gains recognition for delivering excellence and value. The college has been named to Kiplinger's list of "100 Best Values in Public Colleges" for eight consecutive years, was ranked No. 2 on the 2014 Kiplinger's list of "10 Best Public Colleges With Lowest Debt at Graduation" and sits at No. 16 on the 2014 U.S. News and World Report list of the best public institutions in the region.
