Elaine Herron Presents Project at Student Research and Creative Activity Day

2016 May 5

Elaine Herron, a sophomore from Nassau, NY, presented a project at SUNY Oneonta's annual Student Research and Creative Activity Day on April 20.

Herron developed an original project titled "Investigating Emotional Contagion in Budgerigars (Melopsittacus undulatus)" under the guidance of Andrew Gallup of the Psychology Department. It was one of 134 poster presentations displayed at the college's Hunt Union during the daylong showcase. Herron also presented a second project titled "The Effect of Oxytocin on Contagious Yawning in Budgerigars (Melopsittacus undulatus)."

Created to recognize and promote undergraduate scholarship and creative activity, Student Research & Creative Activity Day has become the premier on-campus event for scholarly student exhibition. A total of 180 students, supported by 66 faculty sponsors, participated in this year's event, which featured presentations on a wide variety of topics across academic disciplines.
