Daniel Prince receives Academic Achievement Award

2018 May 3

Daniel Prince of Tully, NY, was one of more than 50 outstanding SUNY Oneonta students selected to receive a 2018 Academic Achievement Award this spring. Each academic department or program selected one to three outstanding seniors to receive the award.

Prince received the Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics award.

To be considered for the award, a student must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 in his or her major and must demonstrate exceptional academic improvement over four semesters, as well as excellence in research; leadership and involvement in department, campus and community activities; and/or participation in academic and/or professional situation outside the college.

Prince was a recipient this year of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence and has been named to the Provost’s List in each of his semesters at Oneonta. In the Spring of 2016, he worked on an independent study project with Dr. Jonathan Brown where he helped program a 3D version of the classic arcade game “Asteroids.” He has worked as a peer tutor at CADE, performed an internship with a regional insurance firm, and currently works as a desktop support consultant at our campus IT Services. During his time at Oneonta, Daniel has been involved with the Apollo Music Club on campus, where he has served as the club treasurer and president. He has also performed in four musical productions with the club. Daniel has also been inducted into the ODK Leadership Honor Society, the UPE Computer Science Honor Society, and the PME Mathematics Honor Society on campus.
