Daniel Lounsbury Receives Academic Achievement Award

2015 Apr 9

Daniel Lounsbury of Rocky Point, NY, was one of 50 outstanding SUNY Oneonta seniors selected to receive a 2015 Academic Achievement Award this spring. Each academic department or program selected one to three outstanding seniors to receive awards.

Lounsbury received the Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting award.

To be considered for the award, a student must be a senior with a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 in his or her major and must demonstrate exceptional academic improvement over four semesters, as well as excellence in research; leadership and involvement in department, campus and community activities; and/or participation in an academic and/or professional situation outside the college.

A professional accounting major, Lounsbury was inducted as a junior into Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society for business schools. He has been very active in campus life, including serving as chair of the School of Economics and Business Student Advisory Council and a member of the Economics Club, Accounting Society, Ski and Snowboarding Club, and several intramural sports teams. He serves as a senator for the Student Association, where he is a member of four internal committees and two external committees. Beyond campus, Lounsbury is involved with Habitat for Humanity, and he spent his spring break working on a house in South Carolina. Professionally, he worked as an audit intern with the public accounting firm Crowe Horwath, LLP. Upon completion of the audit internship, Crowe Horwath extended him an offer of full-time employment, beginning in September.
