Danell Jones honored by the SUNYAC

The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced that SUNY Oneonta sophomore Danell Jones of Greene has been selected as the Defensive Player of the Week. Jones picked up a pair of victories last week for the Red Dragons who have won 10 straight games.

Last Wednesday, Jones came up with five saves in a 3-1 win against Morrisville. This past Sunday, she made six stops in a 7-0 win at Nazareth.

The Red Dragons are currently 12-2 overall and in first place in the SUNYAC with a 4-0 mark. Jones is 11-2 including 10 straight wins in goal. She has logged 826 minutes and has a 1.02 goals against average. She has made 57 saves and has an .826 save percentage.

The Red Dragons are next in action this weekend where they will close out its conference schedule with games at Cortland and Oswego. A win on Friday against rival Cortland will give Oneonta the No. 1 seed for the SUNYAC tournament, which will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
