Danell Jones honored by the SUNYAC

The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced that SUNY Oneonta sophomore Danell Jones of Greene has been selected as the Defensive Player of the Week. Jones picked up a pair of victories this past weekend for the Red Dragons starting the SUNYAC schedule 2-0.

This past Friday in a rematch of last year's SUNYAC championship game against SUNY Geneseo, Jones made a season high 10 saves in a 3-2 double overtime win. The next day versus Brockport, the Red Dragons already had a 4-0 lead in the first seven minutes en route to an 8-1 victory.

The Red Dragons are currently 6-2 overall and Jones has started all seven games that she has played in. She is 5-2 with a 1.19 goals against in 410 minutes of action. She has made 30 saves and has an .811 save percentage.

The Red Dragons will face New Paltz this Wednesday for first place in the SUNYAC. The Hawks are 3-0 while Oneonta is 2-0.
