Dana Giordano Recognized for Community Service at SUNY Oneonta

2014 May 30

Dana Giordano of New City, NY, was among the 39 members of the SUNY Oneonta Class of 2014 who received Senior Service Awards recognizing their commitment to volunteerism. Students who completed at least 350 hours of service through the college's Center for Social Responsibility and Community (CSRC) were recognized during a reception in May.

Giordano, who majored in Early Child/Childhood Ed (B-6) at SUNY Oneonta, logged 791 hours of service in the education field.

More than 20 percent of SUNY Oneonta students donate time to a local organization or cause through the CSRC. As a result, SUNY Oneonta contributes over 50,000 hours of service annually to nearly 100 nonprofit agencies in Oneonta and beyond. In recognition of the college's civic partnerships and service learning activities, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching awarded SUNY Oneonta its Community Engagement Classification in 2011.
