Christine Garcia Presents Paper at Philosophy Conference

2016 Apr 26

Christine Garcia of Glen Oaks, NY, presented a paper at SUNY Oneonta's 21st annual Undergraduate Philosophy Conference.

Students from 19 colleges and universities gathered April 8-9 to showcase and discuss their research at the college's Morris Conference Center. Organized by SUNY Oneonta students, the conference featured a keynote lecture by Lawrence Torcello of the Rochester Institute of Technology titled "On the Ethics of Belief, Public Discourse and Philosophical Practice."

Twenty-six students from across the country were selected to present their scholarly work during the two-day conference. Garcia, who is majoring in Anthropology at SUNY Oneonta, presented a paper titled "Primal Goals of Progress."

Initiated in 1995, the SUNY Oneonta Philosophy Conference has become one of the most respected events of its kind in the United States, hosting students from prestigious institutions such as Harvard University and from as far away as the University of Hawaii.
