2017 Jan 9

The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced that SUNY Oneonta senior Cara Adams of Attleboro has been selected as the women's basketball Player of the Week. Adams earned the honor after a record-setting weekend where she led the Red Dragons to a pair of comeback wins on the road.

This past Friday, in a 60-58 win versus Oswego, she led the Red Dragons with a career high 23 points that included 5-of-9 from behind the arc. The five threes gave her 172 for her career, which broke the program record of 171 set in 1998. She also hit 4-of-4 free throws down the stretch to help secure the victory.

The next day against Cortland, Adams led a second half comeback that erased an 11-point halftime deficit, as Oneonta defeated its rival 59-47. In the game, she scored 19 points and once again connected on five threes making it 10-of-19 for the two games.

Currently, Adams leads Oneonta in scoring averaging 13.9 points per game, which is fifth in the SUNYAC. She has made a team best 41 three-pointers making them at a rate of 42 percent, which is also fifth in the conference. Her 41 made threes is ninth in Division III while leading the SUNYAC.
