Annie Yoo Receives Academic Achievement Award

2015 Apr 9

Annie Yoo of Bardonia, NY, was one of 50 outstanding SUNY Oneonta seniors selected to receive a 2015 Academic Achievement Award this spring. Each academic department or program selected one to three outstanding seniors to receive awards.

Yoo received the Biology Department award.

To be considered for the award, a student must be a senior with a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 in his or her major and must demonstrate exceptional academic improvement over four semesters, as well as excellence in research; leadership and involvement in department, campus and community activities; and/or participation in an academic and/or professional situation outside the college.

Yoo is a teaching assistant for Animal Physiology, and she has been instrumental in developing new labs for the course. Additionally, she worked with Dr. David Wong and Paul Lord on research investigating zebra mussels in Otsego Lake, and this work was recently published in a peer-reviewed academic journal. She has also worked as a Biological Field Station summer research intern, participated in intensive field courses, studied biology in Peru, and is currently president of the local chapter of Beta Beta Beta, the national biology honor society.
