Anna Zajac Receives Scholarship to Study Abroad

2015 Oct 30

Anna Zajac of Slingerlands, , is one of 10 SUNY Oneonta students who received a scholarship to study abroad this semester. Zajac, a sophomore majoring in Professional Accounting, is studying at Seinan Gakun University in Japan.

SUNY Oneonta offers study abroad and exchange programs in Finland, Ghana, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, South Korea, Sweden and Taiwan through the Office of International Education, plus a variety of short-term, faculty-led programs throughout the year. Oneonta students also have access to more than 600 study abroad and exchange programs through the SUNY network.

Zajac was selected to receive the Global Connectedness Fund Scholarship, one of four scholarships established by the SUNY Oneonta College Foundation to support students who might otherwise not have the financial means to study abroad. Made possible through gifts from alumni, faculty, staff and community members, these scholarship are awarded each semester to qualifying students.

Scholarships and Global Connectedness were two of four campaign priorities for the SUNY Oneonta Foundation's Possibilities Full of Promise campaign, which raised $13.6 million for student scholarships and travel, and faculty development. It also pushed the SUNY Oneonta endowment past $50 million, the largest endowment among all SUNY comprehensive colleges.
