Alyssa Brault honored by the SUNYAC

The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced that SUNY Oneonta junior tennis player Alyssa Brault of Rochester has been selected as the Singles Player of the Week.

Brault, who earned honors last week with partner Julieta Eulau, continued her winning ways last week posting three singles victories and a pair of doubles victories to help lead the Red Dragons three dual-match wins.

The highlight of the week for the squad was defeating six-time defending SUNYAC champion SUNY Geneseo 5-4. The loss for the Knights ended a 40-match win streak against a conference opponent. The win for Oneonta was its first versus Geneseo since 2002 ending a 16-year drought. Oneonta's other two wins for the week came against St. Joseph's College and Farmingdale State.

All Brault's singles wins came in straight sets playing at No. 1 in the lineup surrendering only seven games overall. With Eulau, the tandem went 2-1 for the week playing at No. 1 doubles. Brault is currently 5-0 in singles action and 5-1 in doubles.

The Red Dragons are preparing for its only home match of the fall tomorrow against Rival SUNY Cortland beginning at 4pm.
